Crow

New Delhi’s Crow – a multidisciplinary art and storytelling company whose work can be encountered through forms including performance, film, music and immersive experiences – was commissioned by WHO to perform creations that embodied the Summit’s theme of restoring balance. Crow presented the dance Aasmaniyat during the opening ceremony and the dance Bloom during the closing ceremony.

Bloom

Bloom was conceived as the song of a flower searching for its place in the world, the performance tells the story of how it meets the different elements of nature. Each element plays its part, exerting its influence on the flower, causing it to awaken, attune itself with nature’s harmony and finally bloom.

Aasmaniyat

The interplay of the fundamental ‘tattvas’ creates all matter – be it at a cellular level, or on the cosmic scale of planets and solar systems. Balances are constantly being found, cast away and re-negotiated between these elements as they form and shape everything we know – from the smallest cell to the infinite, swirling galaxies. It is this understanding that Aasmaniyat seeks to convey: a sense of the scale at which these forces function, ranging from the infinitesimal to infinity. In this piece, we see the diverse configurations with which the essential elements of nature operate, and our own place within this balance.
